The Parr family started having health problems in late 2008. Lisa Parr thought that her migraines, nausea, and dizziness what just the flu but her symptoms got worse. They live 60 miles northwest of Dallas and had no idea that their sicknesses were coming from people drilling near to their ranch home. Lisa started to lose her vision and hearing. Then in 2009 Mr. Parr and their 11-year old daughter became ill as well. They had no idea that the wells were causing them problems because the well was not on their property. They went to court and the court granted them 2.9 million dollars for personal injury and property damage.

On Monday, Samuel E. McAlpine, was found dead in his home. He had been missing for over a year. He lived in Alaska and was 37 years old. He was last seen on March 17th, 2013, when he told his mother that he was going on a date. His sister reported him missing 12 days later, however the rest of the family was not concerned because they say he "frequently disappears for weeks at a time". He was going through a divorce at the time and had just moved out of the house. His ex-wife was renting the house out and those people just moved out. While she was in the house fixing it up for the next renters, she smelt a gross smell and found his body in a closet in the basement. They think drugs and alcohol were a big part of his death but are still investigating it.

Due to the lack of restaurants that are open year round in Northern Door County, Wild Tomato in Sister Bay has decided to sell their building to the infamous McDonald's. Sister Bay has allowed this because McDonald's has also agreed to help financially support repair for the damage done to the back roads. Doing construction to the Sister Bay hill has really taken a toll on Sister Bay. It will open on Memorial Day, introducing Door County cherries to the menu. Even though people are upset about McDonald's coming, it will provide a good way for cheap kids to eat all year round.
