Obesity
Helen Casillas, is just one example of the many people that are obese in America. She had diabetes and the doctor told her that she needed to lose weight in order to stay healthy...but she didnt listen. She ended up dying of a heart-attack at the age of 44. "This is the problem within the Hispanic community," Dieppa wrote on the blog. "We love our curves, but the line between beautiful and deadly curves is blurred." Hispanic and African American girls are less likely to think that they are overweight, even when they are. Latinos are also the "most vulnerable" which makes them more likely to become obese. Diabetes is a main concern in the Latino community. They need to learn what is healthy and what is not healthy.
